Martin Mere

What a great place! Originally, we wanted to go out for a walk but couldn't decide where to go. So we donned our thinking caps for somewhere good to go and landed on Martin Mere. Perfect, plenty of walking to be done there as well as hides to try snap some shots of pretty birds. I didn't realise just how many different species of ducks, swans and geese.

This is why places like places like Martin Mere are so important because they can teach us so much. A big thing they focus on is conservation and preservation of wetlands, as well as educating people on the importance of keeping them going. I think that the work they do is massively important and I believe that we should be trying our hardest to preserve the natural beauty of the world.

Pottering

What do swans have to do with pottering? Well, that's simple. You have to be pottering somewhere in order to see them. Unlike you and I swans like to be swimming about, up and down bodies of water. In the case of this fella, he was on the Leeds Liverpool canal by Barrowford.

Why is it important? Well it got me out of the house, even for an hour or two. This helped to keep me grounded. Seeing wildlife reminds me of what's important. Of course your job is important but not as important as looking after yourself and if you go out for a little walk whether that be up the side of a canal, through a field or up a walking lane it can help bring you some perspective or help clear your mind of negativity.

Sweet Memories Rose and Our Little Garden
A few years ago, my Grandma passed. She loved her garden, despite living in a terraced house with a tiny backyard, she filled it with various pots and numerous flowers. She helped nurture a love for nature in me, hence my love for travel and landscape photography. My wife and I chose the rose in the photos for her. 1. Because roses were her favourite flowers. 2. Because of the name 'Sweet Memories' which is what I have of my Grandma. Like her, my wife and I have created our own little garden, to bring some much needed colour to a very dull terraced street. That little piece of nature is a small bit of peace and vibrance that you we don't get enough of. With work being the same four walls and houses being a dull grey on a commute, having a modicum of colour and peace at home helps remind us of loved ones and that there is much more to life than just our jobs.
